In the first, Poliseno opened the scoring for Atlanta with a goal at 3:09 with helpers from teammates Medure and Lajcaj. Dale put in a goal at 14:53 with helpers from his linemates, Brown and Figi.
During the second period, Vannelli netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:29 with assists from Koehler and Minaev. Lajcaj quickly followed with a goal at 12:31 with helpers from Minaev and Klintworth. Polcaro finally put the Ducks on the board with a goal at 18:52 with assists from his linemates, Poe and Gustafson.
During the third, Nilsson scored a goal at 14:11 with a helper from Polcaro.
The Capitals’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Monear’s big night as he stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced. Monear’s counterpart, Glassman, also had a big night, managing to stop 34 of 38, but ultimately fell short.
